Visiting America is a dream for many people from over the world, and when it does come true, it is really exciting! In these times of cheap air travel and block buster holiday packages, it is not really difficult to get there, and it is not too expensive either!

But normally, we skip the small print, and forget planning for small (and large) contingencies. Health is one of those, and healthcare in the USA costs a bomb truly! When you compare it with healthcare costs in the developing world, you can’t be but amazed. The reason we are talking about this here is because most of the people who go to the USA on a visitor visa forget getting health insurance for tourist.

Visitors even buy flight insurance and baggage insurance which lasts for about 12 hours of their travel, but forget the travel health insurance which is most important in the US.

Visitors should get their tourist medical insurance done before they leave for the country and this should be a priority factor on their agenda if the term of their stay is for more than three months and going up to six months. Visitors health insurance is available in various packages which cover various aspects like hospital charges, sickness medical coverage, and emergency medical evacuation; accidental deaths too for that matter. Some policies also offer additional coverage for sports and hazardous activities.

And to come to think of it, the tourist health insurance is a must for people on the higher side of the age scale. And this medical insurance for tourists is offered till the age of 80 years but of course, one has to read the small print carefully.

And the most surprising factor is the premium amount! There are several plans with premium amounts as low as $ 50 per month. The next time you plan a trip to the US make sure you have adequate coverage.

A trip on a visitor visa is meant to be enjoyed, and to enjoy it truly, there are a few tensions which need to be addressed. Taking care of ourselves while on a holiday is right at the top of that list, and that is the exact reason for visitor insurance to be mandatory.

Just as excited we may get at the thought of going to the US, getting the visitor health insurance should be a person’s top priority.
