In the last year or so, the number of people holidaying locally in caravans or motorhomes has significantly increased. The insurance brokers have noticed it, and it is doubtless that the caravan parks and travel agents have noticed it too. It seems that in an attempt to save money, the masses have opted against forking out for expensive holidays abroad. Official figures suggest that 5,000,000 more holidays will be taken in Britain this year.

Figures from the National Caravan Council state that over 1.5 million caravan fans are regularly using a combined total of just over half a million caravans across Britain. As well as this, bookings at the Camping and Caravanning Club have risen by a huge 21% in the last year. So it’s pretty safe to say that caravan manufacturers aren’t complaining about the recession!

All these rises in local holidaying mean that the roads are going to get very busy over the summer and so will take more of a beating, all over the top of the battering they took over the winter. We have all seen the horrid potholes in the road that have appeared since the snow.

I wonder sometimes when I see these huge chasms in the road whether I will spot a kangaroo head popping out! I’m sure that these vast potholes must be causing damage to vehicles of any description, indeed, I’m sure that they must even cause accidents sometimes!

In a recent survey conducted by well respected magazines brokers came out as the most competitive for price, and it’s good to be able to ask questions and get proper advice… from a human.
