For those undertaking short-term international travel, the liaison continent insurance plan provides several options. This basic plan insures the plan holder mainly against medical illnesses and accidents. Another plan from the Liaison stable, Liaison Majestic, offers more comprehensive coverage.

You can choose the maximum benefit for your plan, from the following: $50,000, $100,000, $500,000, and $1,000,000. Anyone older than 14 days can participate in the plan.. Also, the plan can be renewed using the original contribution, deductible and pre-existing conditions for up to six months.

You can choose from four plans under the Majestic Continental Travel Insurance plan depending on whether you are traveling to the United States or Canada, or traveling outside these two countries. Your premium will depend on the plan, deductible, your age, and optional coverage chosen.

Plan benefits include physician expenses, hospitalization and outpatient charges, charges pertaining to intensive or coronary care, examination and diagnostic costs, and ambulance charges. The liaison continent visitors health insurance plan pays for physiotherapy, hotel room costs (in case of non-availability of a hospital), and home health care (up to a maximum of $2,500).

Dental emergencies are covered if eligible according to the schedule of benefits. Emergency evacuation is also covered in the liaison continent visitor insurance plan, along with the travel of a family member to accompany you. If a minor child is left unattended due to your hospitalization, his/her travel home is insured. The plan includes accidental death and dismemberment, and the repatriation of remains in case of your demise.

The liaison continent visitors health insurance plan does not end the moment the insured steps out of the travel destination. Incidental trips to the home country are also covered, as are conditions first noticed or treated abroad. In case the plan holder has to rush home due to the destruction of his/her primary residence, the Liaison Continental plan covers the insured’s immediate return home. Loss of baggage is covered too, up to $250.

If you are a U.S. citizen, the pre-existing condition exemption is waived, and you are covered for up to $20,000 for pre-existing conditions. If your trip will comprise activities related to hazardous sports, you can purchase coverage by paying an additional premium.

The liaison continent visitor insurance plan is part of the Hygeia Network in the United States, and A.M. Best Company rates the plan “A”. The plan administrators are Seven Corners, Inc., and the plan underwriters, Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London.
